    Munari’s Machines

    ,
In this book, Bruno Munari describes, with great seriousness and abundance of detail, machines... useful or useless, certainly unusual: machines for predicting the dawn, a lizard motor for tired turtles, a machine for taming alarm clocks, a tail shaker for lazy dogs... Munari's Machines is a poetic and ironic book that stands out for its inventiveness and creativity. Here Munari shows his ability to fuse art, design and didactics, presenting a series of imaginary machines inspired by the famous American cartoonist Rube Goldberg. Each machine, although the product of pure fantasy, is designed with a sense of realism and functionality, and reflects Munari's profound understanding of the world of design. Munari's Machines - collected in this book first published by Einaudi in 1942 and available again in the Corraini Edizioni catalogue - are inventions that are as precise as they are impossible. Described and illustrated down to the smallest detail, Munari's machines follow their own fantastic mechanics and rebel, to our great amusement, against the obligation of having to serve something.

    Jim

    , , , ,
Sports coach and great motivator, Jim invites you to his gymnastics class, encouraging you to keep up the pace until the end! Warm-up, workout, stretching, relaxation... Nine gym exercises come to life under your hands thanks to Marion Bataille’s lively (and muscular!) pop-ups. This book was born out of real gymnastics classes, where Marion Bataille uses colors to bring movement to life: red to show the parts of the body warming up, blue to represent the air flowing through us as we exercise, and yellow to evoke the walls of the gym. Printed with Pantone colors, Jim is a little gem created by one of the most beloved pop-up book artists. It's a treat for both adults and children, for sports lovers and even for those who prefer to just watch from the sidelines. Ready to begin?

    Drawing A Sun

    ,
"Sunset and dawn are the back and front of the same phenomenon: when we are looking at the sunset, the people over there are looking at the dawn". — Bruno Munari
Thus Bruno Munari in Drawing the sun, collects some of his drawings of the sun that look like they were made by children, together with lithographs, paintings, drawings and artist's frescoes, in an overview that aims to tell what the sun is, in the infinite ways in which it can be seen and interpreted. Drawing the sun is one of the books from the Workshop series that describes different working, techniques, from educational to explanatory pamphlets and “poetic” play... With basic explanations and plenty of stimuli, suggestions and maps to get adults and children, teachers and students working together.

    Super-Duper

    ,
Not all superheroes are the same—everyone knows that! Take Eagle-Eye, for example, who can always find Dad’s glasses, the car keys, and the cellphone; or Micro-Wave, who heats up lunch and dinner with a single touch; or Factotum, who fixes anything by turning his hands into tools. With Super-Duper, however, it’s a whole different story! Super-Duper is convinced he has extraordinary powers, such as making flowers grow (which actually grow on their own), moving the Sun through yoga (an activity that at least keeps him fit), or stopping the rain (something that sometimes happens after days of intense concentration), and so on. There is, however, one person for whom Super-Duper truly is a superhero: his beloved Granny, whom he visits often and helps in every possible way. For her, he really does find a way to make flowers grow, move the Sun, stop the rain and, above all, he has the power to… make her laugh out loud! A gentle story in which care and empathy for those we love make even the hardest and most unimaginable things possible.

C’è Una Cosa in Ogni Cosa

If you look closely, in all the things we know (and often love), there is always something else. In a shell, there is a hermit crab. In an envelope, there are often other envelopes. In places, there are different people and situations. On a sunny or rainy day, there are different moods... And in us? In us, too, there is something. Because in addition to our organs, there are emotions, sensations, memories...

All Those Things That No Longer Fit

Sometimes there are ‘things’ that simply appear and do not go away. They don't go away anymore and in fact, they grow, they accumulate and you don't know where to put them. They don't fit in the biscuit jar, they don't fit in daddy's gym bag, they don't fit in grandma's shopping trolley, not on the bus and, at one point, not even in the river! The young protagonist carries around these ‘things’ that even he isn't sure he wants and that only increase, but... just when it seems that these little spheres, which are as yellow as the sun or as orange as ripe apricots, are about to overwhelm him, the unexpected happens.
He looks around carefully and sees ‘things’ of many other colours, sky blue, soft pink, meadow green, fuchsia and blue running around and mingling with his own. They are the ‘things’ that no longer fit even for the other children who play with him in the park and who, mixing ‘things’ and colours, create a joyful and bright confusion. Maybe these are dreams, maybe these are worries, maybe these are thoughts or desires, maybe these are fears or maybe these are secrets, or maybe these are the things we would like to learn and the things we already know. In this delicate book, Marta Lonardi provides us with an almost dreamlike and somewhat rarefied background in which to reflect on ‘all those things that no longer fit’ in each of us. This universal dimension without any indication of awhat exactly these ‘things’ are makes it a book suitable for audiences of all ages.

    Pinocchio

    ,
This is the story of a puppet who wishes only to become a real boy: a curious creature embarking on an adventurous journey in search of himself. The book is being published to mark the bicentenary of Carlo Collodi’s birth. We wanted to celebrate a classic of children’s literature by publishing Pinocchio in an illustrated version narrated by Sven Völker, who, with care and respect for the original, reworks the story of the world’s most famous puppet, presenting it to us from a new perspective: that of a ‘machine’ that wishes to become ‘human’. A surprisingly topical perspective on our present day, in which digital machines are taking the place of human beings.

    Solo Una Notte

A hiker sets out toward a mountain, walking along rivers and trails, and as evening falls he pitches his tent in the forest and goes to sleep. During the night, the forest comes alive with extraordinary presences: animals running, jumping, and playing around the tent, mysterious creatures that appear and disappear. When the man steps outside with his flashlight to understand what is happening, he finds nothing. And yet something is there: a gentle yeti picking flowers, UFOs landing silently with curious aliens, ghosts toasting with flying witches, a sea creature emerging from the lake, and a brilliantly colored comet passing right over his head. In the morning the forest is quiet again, as if nothing had happened. But did it really happen? Did the night reveal the magical face of nature, or does it all belong to dreams and imagination? Andrea Antinori is the author of Solo una notte a silent book in which every page is colorful and rich in details that invite the reader to explore the wonders hidden by the night: a living, surprising world that gradually reveals itself, between reality and imagination, ready to be discovered with curious eyes.

Rocco is a crocodile that swims like a crocodile, moves like a crocodile, and eats like any other crocodile-or at least tries to. How, on the other hand, would a crocodile like Rocco get out of the way if he fell into a very deep hole? In a dense jungle and its underground, to the rhythm of Andrés López's brushstrokes, unfolds the adventure of the crocodile Rocco, who, with the help of other animals, tries by all means to get out of the trap in which he has gotten himself into. A bittersweet book that with its delicacy in the ending snatches a smile of relief.... But perhaps not for the little possum....

A key reference point for identifying new trends and emerging talents in illustration, the Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children's Book Fair reaches its 60th edition this year, reaffirming its status as one of the most significant events in the field of illustration. Illustrators Annual 2026 brings together the works of 75 artists selected for the 60th Illustrators Exhibition from over 4,000 submissions originating in 94 countries. This extensive catalogue offers a broad view of the illustrated universe through perspectives from every corner of the world. The selected images follow a common thread of creativity and the pursuit of strong emotional impact, chosen by this year’s jury members: Sunkyung Cho (illustrator and director of the picture-book publishing house Somebooks), Jenni Erkintalo (author, illustrator and co-founder of Etana Editions), Alīse Nigale (director of Liels un Mazs), Daniela Olejníková (illustrator), and Riccardo Vecchio (artist and faculty member at the School of Visual Arts in New York). The cover has been created by the Iranian illustrator Noushin Sadeghian, winner of the Grand Prix at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava 2025. In addition to all the selected works, the volume includes contributions by the jury members and a special essay by illustrator Shaun Tan. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Illustrators Exhibition, this year’s Annual also features a special insert curated by Paola Vassalli, retracing its history and mapping a journey through styles and trends in illustration as reflected by past juries and selected artists.

Restless Modernity | The Il’dar Galeyev Collection of Soviet Children’s Books

    , ,
Over 100 Soviet children’s books, drawn from the remarkable collection of Russian specialist Il’dar Galeyev, trace the spread of cultural and educational innovations from Russia to the capitals of Western modernism in the early decades of the twentieth century. With contributions by James M. Bradburne, Rene Loewenson, Lisa Hilton, Arthur I. Miller, Clive Britton, John E. Bowlt, Nicoletta Misler, Simon Callow, and Jack Zipes, and enriched by an extensive iconographic apparatus, the volume offers a dual interpretative key: on the one hand, a timely and engaging reflection on the circulation of ideas; on the other, a rich and evocative visual journey through a unique collection of children’s books, bearing witness to a crucial moment in twentieth-century culture. Through the perspectives of international scholars on key figures and fields of modernity—from the arts to science, from psychoanalysis to music—an interdisciplinary inquiry emerges, inviting readers to reconsider how ideas are born, transformed, and disseminated over time. In an era in which ideas and information travel at dizzying speeds, shaping contemporary events, this book shows how modernity became “viral.”
