Books, Books for 4-8y, Books for 5-8y, Bruno Munari, Toys for 6y+$30.00Originally conceived as a work of sculpture issued from Munari’s researches on the subject of multiples, Aconà Biconbì was manufactured as a “game” for the first time in 1961 by Danese. Aconà Biconbì is available in 4 different colours (red, blue, white and green). Its modules are made of circular disks with a hole in the middle, laterally folded so that they can be freely joined together. The result is a complex three-dimensional structure, that changes into unlimited combinations depending on the number of the modules and their disposition. Source of inspiration for many designers and artists worldwide, Aconà Biconbì has often been reinvented and “moulded” in several ways and with different materials. Following the direction outlined in Corraini by Il gioco dell’amore e del caso by Paul Cox and Scatola di architettura MC N.1 and Poliscopio by Bruno Munari, Aconà Biconbì continues to discover the domain of artists’ objects and games, in order to develop a brand-new collection.$30.00

$24.00QuickviewDrawing A Tree
Books for 12-18y, Bruno Munari, School-Ager Gifts$24.00"Perfection, says an old oriental proverb, is beautiful but stupid: you have to understand it but break it. Now that you know how to draw a tree, as I think you do, there's no need to slavishly follow what I've shown you. Once you know the rule, you can draw the tree of your choice, completely different from the ones you've seen in this book. You can draw them with a pencil, a pen, a felt-tip market a paintbrush, crayons, chalk, a piece of brick, charcoal, your fingers. powders, chocolate, a shaving brush or a broom. You can make them out of paper, stiff card, corrugated board, packing paper, wire mesh, plastic, non-plastic, papier-mâché, wire, brass, aluminium, string, spaghetti, cloth, whatever you want. And then, above all, teach others how to do it". — Bruno Munari In Drawing a tree Munari teaches us how to run our hand to draw trees: how they change with curved lines, where to put the crazy branches, how many trunks to draw... Drawing a tree is one of the books from the Workshop series that describes different working, techniques, from educational to explanatory pamphlets and “poetic” play... With basic explanations and plenty of stimuli, suggestions and maps to get adults and children, teachers and students working together.$24.00
$75.00QuickviewA Golden Thread | The Prutscher Collection of Viennese Children’s Books 1900-1938
Books for 12-18y, Preschooler Gifts$75.00Architect and designer, Otto Prutscher was a member of the most important art and craft movements of the early 20th century, from the Wiener Secession to the Werkbund. His collection of children's books, gathered in the early decades of the 20th century for his daughters Helly and Ilse, is a mirror of the Viennese culture at the turn of the centuries - a golden thread that walks us through the streets and cafes of the "city of dreams," through music, literature, art and architecture. More than 140 children's books to which are added 13 leporellos, 178 postcards, drawings and print proofs, donated in 2022 to the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense by Beba Restelli, granddaughter of Otto Prutscher and daughter of Ilse. The collection includes titles by great authors such as Hoffmann, Brentano, Mörike, and Wilde, and illustrations by artists such as Richard Teschner, Marie (Rie) Cramer, and Carl Otto Czeschka. A Golden Thread. The Prutscher Collection of Viennese Children's Books 1900-1938 brings together a very large sampling of images, and traces, through the close connection between Prutscher and his birthplace, the history of Vienna from the declining years of an empire to the idealism of a socialist experiment, to the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany.$75.00- Sold out

Books for 12-18y, Books for 4-8y, Books for 5-8y, Books for 8-12y, Preschooler Gifts$23.00“We can speak about industrial design in different ways: talking about or drawing an idea, through a critical essay, staging a show, with images, audio-video or, why not, with a new type of language as in this flip-book. I have been asked several times to write a book on the stories surrounding my father Achille’s designs, including anecdotes and episodes related to my family sphere. In this first project I wanted to ofer, in two seconds, one story of industrial design. Respecting the irony of an extraordinary father, I wanted to bring to light some lesser-known details of his, my and our private life, translating what I normally do when I talk about his projects into graphic form.” – Giovanna Castiglioni This flip-book is dedicated to Basello, a mobile piece of furniture designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1978. Its function can be declined in many ways: a desk, a bedside table, a ladder, a seat... eventually evolving into the mobile bookcase Joy. This volume was selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory as an example of the best Italian design put into production.$23.00

Books for 12-18y, Books for 5-8y, Books for 8-12y$21.00“Do you hear the silence? Silence makes noise… and among the advancing shadows, silence is in the longest wait.” An incredibly delicate colour palette brings us back to the warmth and atmosphere of sunset on a hot summer’s day. Written and illustrated by Giulia Vetri, When the Shadows Lengthen is a book that reminds us of the importance of contemplating silence and the art of waiting. Starting with a poem written by the author on a long summer day spent at her grandmother’s house in the Italian countryside, this book details the many moments that mark the arrival of evening inside and outside the walls of a house surrounded by hills, trees, and rivers. Something happens on every page, and yet every action, every gesture, speaks above all of the silence that surrounds everything, in the tranquillity of sunset and as the shadows lengthen.$21.00- Sold out

Books for 5-8y, Books for 8-12y$36.00Not everyone knows that greyhounds are extremely cautious and careful animals. In fact, they hide because they are afraid of everything: pigeons, balloons, wind, cats, other greyhounds... and when they are hiding it is not easy to find them and convince them to come out! So how can you stop your greyhound from suddenly running off in search of the nearest hiding place? This book offers several strategies: you can try to disguise your greyhound with scary disguises, so that the others will run away from it, or you can take your greyhound to places where you do not risk meeting anyone. What would you do? With his usual irony and lightheartedness, Andrea Antinori delivers a book that will make you smile at every page, and make you fall in love with this elegant and hopelessly fearful animal.$36.00

$34.00QuickviewRiver
Books for 4-8y, Books for 5-8y, Books for 8-12y$34.00Inspired by a true story experienced by the author and her children, Suzy Lee's new book tells the unforgettable encounter with a black dog in search of a home. River was saved and welcomed with love and became a companion in games and adventures, which come to life on paper through simple and immediate lines. The white of the pages leaves room for the reader’s imagination, who immediately finds themselves immersed in River’s story and his way of seeing the world: we dive with him in the snow (or in a pile of leaves), we become part of the family, and through his point of view we experience happiness and friendship, but also expectation and nostalgia. In a format reminiscent of a diary, River traces an intimate and personal story, made up of images and words: a novelty compared to the previous silent books. We still find the characteristics that make Suzy Lee's style unique - the intensity of black and white, the surprise presence of colour, the essentiality of the features and the importance of the empty space - and that here have the spontaneity and strength of a first-person experience. The story becomes a way to deal with detachment, to make a bond that lasts over time which you do not want to forget.$34.00
